Hamsa Hand

Hamsa Hand Perhaps unrelated to these protective amulets, it seems interesting that the Foundation of Human Understanding teaches a Judeo-Christian Meditation technique which is purported to help unify mind and body. In this technique, the hand sometimes rises spontaneously to the forehead (the location of the third eye).

Coincidently, both the hamsa hand amulets and the meditation technique are supposed to protect against negative emotions. Were ancient people aware of some dynamic between mind and body which often needed some kind of therapy, but perhaps due to a lack of sophistication, believed an amulet could solve the problem?

The Hamsa Hand
The hamsa hand (Arabic) or hamesh hand (Hebrew) is an old and still popular apotropaic amulet for magical protection from the envious or evil eye.
